Whatever your resolution may be, make sure to place specific goals around it.

For example: my personal 2014 resolution is to eat more at home with home-cooked meals. I will allow myself to eat out at a restaurant (or fast food place) at least 3-4 times a week, while all other meals have to be cooked from home.

Having a hectic schedule, I may not be able to eat all 21 meals (3 meals a day, 7 days a week) at home, so I allow myself some flexibility (3-4 meals out of the week can be spent at a restaurant/fast food joint instead). Giving yourself flexibility will increase your chances of resolution success.

Also, if you fall of the wagon, do not consider yourself a failure. We will all encounter speed bumps along the path of success. Forgive yourself and jump right back on! You can do it!

So, what is your New Year’s resolution? How will you retain it throughout the year? We would love to hear it!

  1. I completely agree that goals need to be specific and realistic to be attained. It’s good to know that you are human and that you will mess up so don’t be hard on yourself and try again.

  2. Wow! I think I have too many to list. However, my focus during this season is to improve on the many things that I have began and to complete some of them as well. I will mention that getting back in shape is a major objective though.
